Artist Biography
Deerfield Beach, Florida | Gospel Trap • Hip-Hop • Contemporary Gospel
Gospel in Code isn't here to preach to the choir. They're here to reach the people who would never walk through the church doors.
Hailing from Deerfield Beach, Florida, Gospel in Code is a six-member musical collective—four men and two women, ages 26 to 32—blurring the lines between Southern trap, hip-hop, and gospel music.
Their approach is unconventional, and that's exactly the point.
Rather than delivering traditional gospel messages, Gospel in Code wraps spiritual truths inside the language, imagery, and experiences of everyday street life. Their songs explore temptation, ambition, money, betrayal, redemption, and the constant struggle between who we are and who we're trying to become.
But there's another layer to their music.
Every song carries a message beneath the surface. A lyric that sounds like a celebration of wealth might actually be a warning about greed. A verse about street life might reveal something deeper about faith, consequences, or forgiveness. Some messages are obvious. Others might take five or ten listens before the meaning finally clicks.
The group isn't interested in judging its audience or telling people how to live. Their mission is to meet listeners where they are, especially those who feel disconnected from organized religion, and give them something worth thinking about long after the music stops.
Their song “Gilt Guillotine” captures that philosophy. Built around the contradiction between wealth and salvation, it tells the story of a man who has everything money can buy but may be losing the one thing it can't replace—his soul. Religious imagery, luxury, and street culture collide in a story where the very gold that symbolizes success becomes the blade of judgment.
With four male and two female voices bringing different perspectives, Gospel in Code creates music that challenges expectations of what gospel can sound like and what trap music can say.
They aren't trying to turn the club into a church overnight.
They're planting a message in the music and letting listeners discover it for themselves.
