Artist Biography
Rooted in the coastal rhythms of St. Croix, USVI, singer Kemar Powell delivers sun-drenched island soul wrapped in velvet lover's rock traditions. Powell commands a warm, smoky vocal timbre that glides effortlessly into yearning falsetto refrains, capturing the cool swagger of Gregory Isaacs alongside the earthy emotional resonance of Beres Hammond.
His sonic architecture balances classic Caribbean roots fundamentals with lush contemporary R&B textures. Mellow Fender Rhodes chords, shimmering acoustic guitar licks, and warm brass accents nestle into deep one-drop drum pockets, propelled by round, sub-bass frequencies and subtle tape-delay echoes. Powell’s songs bypass fleeting trends in favor of timeless melodic hooks, late-night romance, and infectious groove momentum tailored for sound system selectors and headphone listeners alike.
Teaming with executive producer DJ Cash, Powell’s releases are presented here in their purest, unadulterated form.
